# Timeline review

> How to review playback, tracks, clip selection, subtitles, and video versions.

The Timeline tab is the main review surface after generation. It combines Remotion playback, timeline tracks, clip selection, subtitle styling, mute controls, and version access.

## What to check

Review the Timeline tab for:

- Pacing.
- Clip order.
- Narration timing.
- Subtitle readability.
- Music balance.
- Visual continuity.
- Missing or failed media.
- Final duration.

## Track model

The timeline can include:

- Video clips.
- Narration.
- Music.
- Ambient audio.
- Sound effects.
- Subtitles and subtitle tracks.

The current Timeline UI is read-only for arbitrary clip movement. It is for inspection, playback, clip selection, subtitle styling, mute state, version selection, and selected PREVIEW video-clip regeneration through Director chat.

## Playback controls

The Timeline tab supports:

- Play and pause.
- Seek.
- Fullscreen preview.
- Playback rate selection.
- Jump to start/end.
- Skip backward and forward.
- Video panel resize.
- Timeline zoom.

Keyboard shortcuts include space for play/pause, J/K/L style navigation, number-key percentage seeks, arrow seeking, Home/End, and fullscreen.

## Clip selection

Selecting a video clip creates context for Studio chat. The context includes the visual ID, clip index, start/end timing, duration, and thumbnail when available.

Selecting a subtitle opens the subtitle styling panel instead of sending a chat context chip.

## Subtitle styling

Subtitle styling opens in the left rail when a subtitle is selected. Style changes affect how subtitles are presented in preview and render.

Keep subtitles:

- High contrast.
- Large enough for mobile viewing.
- Clear against bright footage.
- Consistent across the video.

## Muting tracks

Timeline mute state is persisted with a debounced save so rapid toggles coalesce. Use track muting during review to isolate narration, music, and effects.

## Asset versions

If the selected video clip has more than one version, the Timeline tab shows a Versions action. Use this when:

- A generated clip has alternatives.
- A regenerated clip is better than the original.
- A previous version is more accurate.
- You want to compare options before render.

The selected active version is the one used going forward.

## Before rendering

Before you render:

- Play the full timeline.
- Check subtitles over bright and dark footage.
- Check the first and last 15 seconds carefully.
- Confirm no temporary or failed asset remains.
- Confirm aspect ratio is correct.
- Confirm the project status is completed.

> Note: 
  Rendering creates a deliverable MP4 from the current project timeline. If you make more changes after rendering, render again before downloading the final file.

## Product and publication boundary

- Onira produces a reviewable MP4; it does not upload or schedule social posts.
- Creators remain responsible for facts, sources, rights, disclosure, policy review, and final publication.
- Research is research-assisted; creator verification is required before publication.
- Onira does not guarantee factual accuracy, legal clearance, monetization, reach, or production success.
- The current Timeline and Studio surfaces support defined review and regeneration workflows, not arbitrary nonlinear editing.
