Character library
How saved characters are reused across projects.
The Character Library stores reusable characters for a workspace. Saved characters can be selected in the production composer so future projects can preserve cast continuity.
Character types
| Type | Meaning |
|---|---|
| On Screen | A visible cast member with portrait and optionally voice. |
| Narrator | An off-screen narrator whose voice carries the story. |
| Voice Only | An off-screen or incidental voice, such as radio, phone, or background dialogue. |
Library view
The library supports:
- Search.
- Type filtering.
- Favorites.
- 3D-only filtering.
- Voice-only filtering.
- Sorting.
- Pagination.
- New character entrypoint.
- Favorite toggle.
- Delete action.
- Hover preview for 3D model when a mesh exists.
Character cards show name, type, voice state, 3D state, favorite state, and usage count.
Reusing characters
Use saved characters when:
- A recurring host or narrator should stay consistent.
- A brand character appears across multiple productions.
- A documentary subject needs stable visual identity.
- A voice profile should persist across projects.
Saved characters are attached from the Home composer before project creation.
Removing characters
Removing a character from the library does not modify projects that already used it. It only removes the saved character from future selection.
Good library hygiene
- Favorite frequently reused characters.
- Rename characters clearly before reuse.
- Keep one canonical active version for each recurring character.
- Assign a default voice when the character should speak.
- Use separate characters for on-screen cast and off-screen narration if they serve different roles.
