Director's Studio

The review and revision workspace inside an Onira project.

Director's Studio is the left rail and assistant layer inside the project workspace. It is paired with the Blueprint, Timeline, Settings, and Export surfaces.

The workspace is built around generated production artifacts rather than a blank canvas. Users review what the pipeline created, use available direct controls, select versions, style subtitles, and render new exports. Director chat has a narrower role: selected PREVIEW video-clip regeneration.

Canonical project workspace

The canonical URL is:

/{workspace}/projects/{projectId}

The older /studio route redirects to the project page.

Workspace layout

The desktop project workspace has:

  • Top bar with project title menu, Blueprint and Timeline tabs, Share, Settings, and Export.
  • Resizable left rail for Studio chat or subtitle styling.
  • Main workspace pane for Blueprint, Timeline, Settings, Export, waiting, cap, or failure states.

The Studio chat rail starts open. It can be collapsed from the top bar.

Active surfaces

SurfacePurpose
BlueprintReview direction, characters, voices, subjects, settings, and key moments.
TimelinePlayback, timeline inspection, clip selection, subtitle styling, and version access.
SettingsProject metadata, prompt, status, folder, color, credits, dates, and IDs.
ExportStart renders, preview completed renders, download MP4s, and inspect render history.
Director chatRegenerate one selected PREVIEW timeline video clip and monitor its action state.

Export is locked until the project is complete.

Review workflow

A practical Studio pass looks like this:

  1. Review Blueprint if the project pauses at the approval gate.
  2. Approve the blueprint when required portraits, voices, subjects, and settings are ready.
  3. Wait for the Timeline tab to unlock.
  4. Review the timeline playback, subtitles, clip order, and audio.
  5. Select clips or subtitles that need work.
  6. Select a PREVIEW video clip and use Director chat only when that clip needs regeneration.
  7. Use asset version history when a clip has alternatives.
  8. Check Project Settings for status, credits, prompt, and IDs.
  9. Render from Export when the cut is ready.

Locking rules

Some controls are intentionally locked while the pipeline is running:

  • The chat composer is locked while a run is active, except at the blueprint approval gate.
  • Content tabs are locked until the blueprint preview exists.
  • Timeline stays inspectable after the blueprint exists, including later failures.
  • Export is locked until the project is complete.
  • A failed production locks chat until retry or resolution.

Desktop and mobile

Detailed Studio editing is desktop-first. Mobile project views support inspection, render handling, and copying a link to open on desktop.

What Studio is not

Studio is not a traditional nonlinear editor. It is a structured review and regeneration workspace for AI-produced films. Use separate direct controls where available, use Director chat for one selected PREVIEW video clip, choose versions, style subtitles, and render deliverables.
